Traditional rulers in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the programmes, policies and aspirations of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande.

On Tuesday, the Council Chairman met with the traditional rulers under the aegis of the Association of Enigie, Ikpoba-Okha.

The visit was to further advance Osayande’s infrastructure and human-capacity development initiatives before the traditional rulers; it served also, as an avenue to inform the Enigie of things to come.

Seventeen Enigie from across communities in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area were physically present at the Tuesday meeting.

Speaking, Chairman of the Association, HRH RO Ogunbor, hailed Osayande for his human face approach in the discharge of his duties.

Ogunbor said that Osayande represents the true face of democracy with his style of governance; “we are very pleased with your style of governance, and be rest assured that we will continue to interface with your administration where necessary”.

At the meeting, Osayande urged traditional rulers to continue to be ambassadors of their various communities, promoting the ideals of peace and development.

“You must continue to employ peaceful and humane tendencies in settling communal disagreements; do not promote discord, bias amongst members of your communities; be fair, just and equitable in the affairs of your communities”, Osayande charged traditional rulers.

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman assured that every community in the locality will share in his administration’s development plan; he noted that all entitlements accrued to traditional rulers in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area will be regular, calling on them to continue to promote peace, cooperation and give his administration the necessary support to get things done.

At the meeting, traditional rulers took out time to present their community needs, ranging from health centres, transformers, schools, roads, youth employment, market facilities, others.

The Chairman, who assured that, like he did in his first term, 2018-2021, he will do more from community to community in his second term; appreciating them for the support during the electioneering campaigns.

Osayande noted that he sited numerous projects in communities in Ikpoba-Okha in his first term, assuring that he will increase the pace of development this time.

Chairman called for the Enigie’s support; he also informed the traditional rulers of his works since assumption of duty which include but not limited to, market money support for market women in PZ and Okha markets in Wards 6 and 9 respectively; Monday market clean-up in Ogheghe, Egba, Ohovbe and most recently, Evbomoma; ongoing Principal’s Cup, which final has been scheduled for next week, etc.

Osayande assured of continuous developmental initiatives across the board.

He noted that the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Ogheghe, Ward 9 of the LGA, upon take-off, will employ youths from across the locality, as all Enigie will be carried along in the recruitment process.

With the Chairman at the meeting were, the Vice Chairman, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, Secretary to Local Government, Barr. Osagie Igbinomwanhia, Head of Local Government Administration, Kessington Osifo JP, Supervisory Councilor for Environment, Hon. Aisosa Ogiegbaen, Chief Administrative Officer, Pst. Josephine Duze.

The Enigie took turns to commend the Council Chairman for his good works, and expressed anticipation for things to come.

Amongst Enigie present were, Enogie of Ukhiri Eresoyen, HRH RO Ogunbor, Enogie of Ogua, HRH Ogiesoba Aghahowa, Enogie of Evbomodu, HRH Ekpen Ivbievbiokun, Enogie of Ukhiri Osemwende, HRH Godwin Aigbe, Enogie of Avbiakagba, HRH Osawaru HA, Enogie of Avbiama, HRH Evbayiro Festus O.

Others are, Enogie of Utesi, HRH Napoleon Osazuwa, Enogie of Etete, HRH CI Omorodion, Enogie of Evbomoma, HRH Stephen A. Ohangbon, Enogie of Idogbo, HRH Edorodion Osarobo, Enogie of Oka, HRH Imagbenikaro Ekhosuehi and Enogie of Uwusan, HRH Ogiesoba Igbinovia.

Enogie of Uroho, HRH Ogieriakhi Iguodeyala, Enogie of Ogheghe, HRH Ogbonmwan MU, Enogie of Oka Umogunhen, HRH Victor Iyawe and Enogie of Ohoghobi, HRH Kingsley Omorose were also at the meeting, which held at the Chairman’s office, Council Secretariat, Idogbo, Benin City.

Osayande has said the meeting with traditional rulers will be monthly, aimed at strengthening the relationship between government and the traditional institution and as well, promote peace, development and unity.
