There Is Honour Even Amongst Thieves

The Holy Bible tells us the story of the two thieves who were crucified alongside our Lord Jesus Christ. While one was unrepentant of his evil deeds, the other was very remorseful and asked for forgiveness. The repentant one was rewarded with a promise of paradise by Jesus Christ but the unrepentant one had his place reserved in hell. This demonstrates that even amongst thieves, there could be found honorable ones.
The judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo on July 4, 2024, revealed to the world how a political master spin doctor who is unrivaled in dishing out lies and propaganda.
Personally, I saw the remorseless Barr. Adaze Emwanta in action during the last Edo PDP crisis in 2023. A state High Court sitting in Benin had declared the Obaseki’s led faction delegates as the authentic delegates of the party Barr Adaze went on National television to declare the judgement sound from a court with competent jurisdiction. This was despite the common knowledge that a state High Court has no jurisdiction over matters involving INEC. The court of Appeals in Benin threw away the procured judgment. Many waited in vain for Adaze to apologize for trying to mislead the public but to no avail.
On July 4, 2024, Barr Adaze was again at his peak. While the judgement was still being read, Adaze in his characteristic penchant for spreading lies and propaganda, went outside the court and announced to a gullible press that the PDP primary of February 22nd held at the designated Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium had been annulled by the court. Of course the APC followers who have watched with frustration as the PDP candidate, Barr. Asue IGHODALO’S popularity swells by the day, went into premature ejaculations . It was a live straw from a hopeless situation the APC has found itself in Edo State.
The media especially, Channels Television and some emergency political analysts like Dr Reuben Abati who are always looking out for bad news joined the foray to applaud what the considered a sound judgment despite the provisions of Section 84(14) of the Electoral Act and the notorious reputation of the judge who was recently demoted by the National Judicial Council.
Alas, when the Certified True Copy was published, it came as no surprise that Barr Adaze Emeanta was once again caught pants down in his usual cobwebs of lies and propaganda. There was no where in the declaration by the judge were he annulled the primary nor even mentioned the candidacy of Barr Asue Ighodalo.
As expected, Barr Adaze has not shown no remorse for raising the hopes of his party members only to cause them heart aches when the truth was finally revealed. We do not expect them him to show any sign of repentance. However, I await to see if Channels Television and Dr Reuben Abati will take the part of honour and apologize for allowing themselves to be misled . Already, Vanguard News has taken this part of honour by apologizing for carrying the fake news.
