The Purity of purpose far supercedes the plentifulness of people
By Olu Martins
I watched with amusement the failed attempt by APC to replicate what the PDP did with the AIO2 parade. I dare say that while they succeeded in having more cars attending their botched attempt at replicating an organic followership they nonetheless convinced themselves by themselves for themselves that the outing was successful.
Unknown to APC that what drives an outing like ours wasn’t extensive planning nor plenty mobilisation, what drives an outing like our PDP Asue/Ogie outing was the purity of purpose espoused by our cerebral candidate and his amazing deputy.
It is not the tail that wags the dog, rather it is the dog that wags the tail. In the same vein, it is not the people that drive a rally it is the candidate that drives a rally.
When you have a brilliant, charismatic, knowledgeable candidate like Dr Asue Ighodalo, it must reflect in his followers by the energy and conviction they use to campaign and rally.
When you have another candidate that is slow, lackluster and empty, you are bound to have a dry, lifeless outing like the APC had. Can’t you see that they themselves are not proud of their outing, no live broadcast, no amateur videos from ordinary people except for edited pictures and videos showing us the angles they want us to see.
You can’t give what you don’t have and if like Monday Okpebholo you don’t have energy and brilliance like Dr Asue Ighodalo it would also reflect in your campaign and on the faces of the people who follow you out for rallies.
As a veteran on the street with plenty of street credibility I can conclude by telling you that even when you hire the best of talkers like APC “hired” Comrade Oshiomole, you can’t get the same result PDP got in their rally because the energy comes from the major dramatis persona not from surrogates.
Unfortunately for APC their candidate doesn’t have the energy, conviction not language to convince himself amawe another, because ‘if didn’t dey, it didn’t dey’ and with Monday Okpebholo
IT JUST DIDN’T DEY.
