It is disheartening to note that the marginalization we talk about at the state and national level is worse in our own close-knit Local Government. How can we be so brutal to ourselves when apportioning political offices.
How can Irrua have an outgoing and incoming senator, a former and incoming house of Assembly member, an incoming LGA Chairman and even the commissioner nominee?
How can you carry an elephant on your head and still try to kill a cricket with your leg.
Ever since Prof Waziri Edokpa (first in history of Ewu extraction) to taste the Esan Central LGA Chairmanship Seat for just three years due to providence after 27 years of the LGA’s existence, hell has been let loose by the Irrua politicians in collusion with jobbers from other extractions. Since that infamous three years, nothing absolutely was zoned to Ewu with the belief that Ewu has eaten their cake and will not have another one.
What has three years of Waziri’s regime done for Ewu outside the fenced primary school and the temporal employment provided for some youths that is now a thing of the past. All through the three years, Waziri tried to please the Irrua people.
Ewu is the second largest community in the LGA outside Irrua with the highest voting strength. And record has it that Ewu won massively for the rulling PDP in the last electoral outing. Why should Ewu be treated like this. What are our political leaders doing, what is happening?
This is a clarion call to the government of Edo State and the PDP party leaders to as a matter of justice balance the political equation of the LGA to carry everybody along. Ewu is a full fledged kingdom in Esan Central LGA having a tangible voting strength. Our rightful position should be given to us. We are not an extension of Irrua. Ewu is not a community of Irrua but a full fledged kingdom with more than 9 heavily populated constituents communities.
