…See AiO² are taking over everywhere – APC members cries out

By Eseosa Ewere

All may not be well with the APC in Edo State and their handlers; and as the Party gets set to go into the campaigns proper, how to manage their grammatically incompetent Candidate, Monday Okpebholo, seems to be their greatest challenge.

Akpakomiza, who is reported to have written WAEC at age 38, at a “miracle centre”, yet got less than an average result, falls short of all language requirements, being a prerequisite for public office in Nigeria.

It appears the governorship candidate of the APC cannot make a straight 1-minute sentence without murdering the English language; it is now being suggested that the Party hires an interpreter to help convey his message, while he (Agbakomiza) speaks in his local Esan dialect.

That, it is feared will completely destabilize the Party’s already shaky chance in the poll as Edo is a multiethnic, multilingual State that cannot now be reduced to a local community due to one man’s avarice to be Governor, yet incompetent in nearly all regards.

“The APC gubernatorial candidate may have been smuggled into the race; he appears unprepared, he is largely uninspiring, disconnected from his people, he doesn’t seem to have any spectacular strategy, order than banking on the President to rig the poll in his favour,” an APC faithful in Edo North noted recently.

Only yesterday, the APC Candidate made a mess of his Party, going to a place around the Upper Adesuwa in GRA, Benin City, all in a bid to expose an erosion in the area; Okpebholo ended up exposing his grammatical incompetence and poor content creation strategy, leaving himself and Party brutalized, battered, beaten black and blue, a development that has infuriated many members of the APC, particularly the few, very few sane ones.

A front line member of the APC who simply gave his name as Idahosa, went furious yesterday night, calling on Akpakomiza to stop talking as every word from him tend to reduce the Party’s chances at the poll.

“Senator is embarrassing us, he should just stop talking; I don’t know how we are going to navigate his grammatical incompetence, uninspiring posture”, Idahosa lamented; “these are very sensitive and critical hurdles that we must quickly find ways to navigate, I really do not know how, but we must find ways”, he added.

Akpakomiza has continued to ridicule the Party by his very poor grammatical construction; the other day, he said “I changed the narration”, yesterday, he said, “City of Edo”, “no vehicle can pass here now, we have to pack our vehicle to use leg cross”, earlier, he noted that “there was no APC pres(ent) in Edo Central”, that he “Changed the narration”, these developments raises serious concerns amongst the public who are querying how Akpakomiza got to the Senate.

The Senate is Nigeria’s highest law-making establishment; a Senator is a distinguished personality expected to be flawless in his disposition in the art of law-making and interactions with constituents; Akpakomiza’s case is however different, terrible, giving credence to the popular opinion that protest votes against Clifford Odia’s third term bid was what got him to the Red Chamber; ordinarily, Akpakomiza is a misfit for the exalted office of Senator.

Beyong his grammatical maladministration, Akpakomiza does not also appear a competent administrator; he is reported to have messed up Chief Anenih’s estate, when he held sway as Personal Assistant to the late leader; a large chunk of Chief Anenih’s hard-earned money is reported to have been pilfered by his erstwhile PA, Okpebholo; as Senator, not much can be associated with him as either projects, programmes, bills, proposals, drafts, etc, to describe Akpakomiza as a bench warmer in the Senate may not be out of place.

Many are now beginning to wonder how and why the Party had to settle for such an obvious incompetence, who have not shown any skillset, no meaningful youth engagement policy, no women empowerment programmes, no policy development and implementation skill, a man who cannot make a straight 1-minute sentence without murdering the English language, many Party members are now said to be disenchanted owing to the cacophony of embarrassment the man continue to bring on the Party anytime he opens his mouth.

“See how Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie have taken over the entire space; they are engaging all demographies of our State, the elders, women, youths and even people less than eighteen (18) are all inspired when they speak; for us in the APC, we are embarrassed when our Candidate speaks, this is not what we bargained for”, APC members lamented at a recent gathering in Benin City.

Edo has become too sophisticated for just any body to govern; Godwin Obaseki has set a standard that requires more than just a regular community champion like Akpakomiza to maintain; the network of roads, civil service reforms and fiscal prudence policy established by the Obaseki-led administration needs men with sophisticated disposition and visionary to sustain and build on; the State having gone through several reforms in the almost eight (8) of the Obaseki-led administration, now sits on a watershed, waiting for only the best brains and hands to take it up, post-Obaseki.

You could not have underperformed as a Senator in the last one year, and want to govern a complex Edo.

Edo is not an instrument for political compensation; whereas the advocacy for power to move to Edo Central is settled and cannot be over-emphasized, the next Governor of Edo State, beyond being from Edo Central, must be one with proven competence, capacity, character, and the psychological know-how to shoulder the ever-increasing developmental demands that daily stares at Edo.

Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie has shown these critical traits, they have learnt the ropes.

while Asue Ighodalo possesses significant competence, coming from the private sector community, having chaired big corporations, with outstanding results, Osarodion Ogie on the other hand, exhibits cognate experience, high-level professionalism, policy development and implementation skill, needed to navigate the ever-increasing hurdles associated with public administration; they are the greatest and most formidable pair to have been thrown up by any political party in Edo since 1999.

Whereas Akpakomiza may continue to warm the bench at the Senate, play docile during critical discourse, he is largely unfit to govern a contemporary Edo, particularly along the line of reforms and critical establishments; and as we approach the enthronement of a new government, good-spirited Edos at home and abroad, who have shown a reassuring interest in the development of Edo are ready body and soul to galvanize critical support for the actualization of the AiO² agenda aimed at stamping Edo on the path of glory and light.
