Re: Open Letter To IGP To Caution Oshiomhole, Orbih, Ogbeide-Ihama Against Disrupting House of Assembly Polls
Sir,
RE: NATIONAL COALITION OF EDO VOTERS (NCEV) CALLS ON THE IGP TO INVESTIGATE AND PREVENT THE PROPOSED DISRUPTION OF THE EDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS BY THREE REPUTABLE SONS OF THE LAND. (COMR. ADAMS OSHIOMOLE, CHIEF DAN ORBIH AND HON. OGBEIDE IHAMA)
The open letter to your office dated March 10, 2023 apropos the above captioned by a faceless organization refers.
Let me also join in acknowledging the critical and crucial roles the Nigeria Police has been playing in ensuring the survival of our democracy. It is without doubt that the police under your able leadership has been able to maintain neutrality and ensured relatively peaceful conducts of our elections. I must on behalf of well meaning Nigerians appreciate you and also encourage you to do more.
The unprecedented peace and tranquility that prevailed during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections especially in Edo State is worth commending. The security agencies without stress were able to put in place a security network that ensured that election violence was reduced to the minimum and voters exercised their rights to vote.
As regards the subject matter, one would ordinarily pass it as worthless but knowing the characters suspected to be behind it, it is important that I respond to put you and all security agencies on the alert. I want to speak for Chief Dan Osi Obih and RT. Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama who are my party members. The faceless author/s did not adduce any single evidence to buttress their unfounded allegations against these prominent Edo sons. By their antecedents, these are democrats who have always placed their trusts in the democratic system and the rule of law. They have never been associated with Electoral violence because they know and interact regularly with their constituents.
I want to appeal that you use your good offices to investigate and fish out the author/s and sponsors of these spurious allegations. This is obviously a calculated plan by some individuals who have demonstrated their lack of faith in the Electoral process to unleash violence on the voters in Edo State during the coming House of Assembly elections and then turn around to blame the aforementioned individuals in their write up.
Edo people and indeed the security agencies are too suffocated to be hoodwinked by these agents of darkness. We all know those that have reasons to try and disrupt the expected peaceful conduct of the coming elections because of the predictable trashing their candidates are expected to receive at the polls just as it happened in the last elections on the 25th of February.
Once again, I Appeal to you not to sweep this dummy of an already planned scheme to perpetuate violence, disruption and intimidation of voters in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections expected to hold on the 18th of March, 2023 in Edo State. Kindly ensure that security is beefed up in Edo State to forstall and frustrate the plans of these desperate children of Pharaoh.
While relying on your prompt proactive action as usual, please accept the assurances of my highest esteemed regards.
