As Nigerians join the rest of the world to commemorate the 2023 World Tuberculosis Day, Josemaria Escriva Foundation in Collaboration with Esan West LGA Marks the 2023 World Tuberculosis(TB ) Day. calling for more awareness to ensure cases are reported at an early stage.
Speaking at the activities that took place at Ekpoma main Market, Friday 24th March, 2023, and Emuhi Market, Emuhi, Esan West LGA, on Saturday 25th March, 2023, Dr. Jude Obasanmi commmended the Liaison Officer, Esan West Local Government Council, Hon. Friday Amiedamhen Idialu for colaboarating with his Foundation over the years. He appealed to residents to ensure that they regularly observe changes in their bodies particularly if they observer prolonged coughing, high temperature and chest pains amongst others, for a period of two weeks, such individual need to visit health center.
He said that the harsh economic situation in the country has made it very critical for people to prevent avoidable sickness.
In the same vein, Mrs Christiana Aigbe, Tuberculosis & Leprosy Supervisor, Esan West LGA, spoke extensively on the causes, prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis. She said that it was not a death sentence and that early detection could help to safe ones life.
In her sensitization message, an Health Educator, Esan West LGA, Mrs Akioya Barbra Omon, talkes about good personal hygiene and regular checkups. She said that people should not allow their body systems to collapse before crying for help.
The 2 days activities began at Ekpoma main markets and thereafter moved to meet with the Elders Council in Emuhi Community before having a sensitization at the Emuhi market square and it’s environs.
There were health talks, sensitization and awareness creation on causes, prevention and treatment of TB. Hand flyers were also distributed to the elders, market men and women.
