Mr Shaka, an APC chieftain from Esan central Local Government Area in Edo central district of Edo State has expressed concern about the leadership’s resolve to cut down the numbers of aspirants in Edo Central Senatorial District ahead of the statewide party primaries. He believes that it will be ridiculous for Edo Central Senatorial leaders to look towards those already occupying positions in the political party for the Governorship race. Shaka warns that such a move would lead to something more dramatic, advising that drastic measures should be employed by the leadership to nip such happenings in the bud. He suggests that Edo State APC leadership by extension should as a matter of paramount, look inward to find suitable candidates instead of selecting from amongst politicians who already hold elective or appointive positions in the party. There is anxiety in Edo Central Senatorial district and Esan Central Local Government where Shaka hails from, due to rumors that one of the Senators in the State or one of the Party/political office holders may be favored to become the next Party’s flag bearer. Mr Shaka urges the party leadership not to consider office holders as Governorship candidates, as it will be the beginning of the party’s failure. Shaka lists several political office holders in Edo Central senatorial district, including Senator Monday okphebolo, Mr. Victor Eboigbe, RT.Hon. Thomas Okosun, and Col. David Imuse. He criticizes Senator Monday okphebolo for running for Governor after just four to five months in office as elected Senator, suggesting that he should focus on legislative business. Shaka highlights the importance of having a holy dissatisfaction with achievements and suggests that the key to failure is trying to please everybody. He encourages leaders to put God’s affirmation above the people’s affirmation.
