Police Van Pursuing Yahoo Boys Leaves Motorcyclist and Passenger in Coma
A motorcyclist and his passenger are fighting for their lives in a hospital after they were struck by a police patrol van along Warake Road in Auchi, Etsako West local government of Edo State.
Our source gathered from a witness that the police van was pursuing online scammers, popularly known as Yahoo Boys.
It was gathered that the police driver lost control and rammed the vehicle into a stationary truck opposite Presto Hotel, but not before crushing the commercial motorcyclist and his passenger, who sustained life-threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist and the passenger, whose identities are unknown at the time of this report, are currently in a hospital, but witnesses doubt their survival due to the graveness of their injuries.
Warake Road in Auchi is well known as the hotbed of Yahoo boys in Etsako, and the police sometimes invade the axis to effect the arrest.
Edo State Police Command public relations officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor says he has yet to be briefed on the issue, as action will be taken if the officers are found wanting.
