Police repel terrorists’ attack, kill two
Katsina State Police Command repelled an attack at Yasore village in Batsari Local Government Area of the state and neutralized two terrorists.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who made this known in a statement on Friday, March 2, 2023, said two AK 47 rifles, charms and other items were recovered during the operation.
“Today, Friday, 02/03/2023 at about 0730hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Yasore village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state. Consequently, DPO Batsari Division, led a combine team of Police and Vigilante group to the area, engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them,” the statement read.
“In the course of scanning the scene, the team recovered the followings: two (2) corpses of neutralized terrorists, two AK 47 rifles, five (5) AK 47 rifle’s magazines, ninety-seven (97) pieces of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles, two ITEL GSM Phones, bunch of criminal charms, a black bag containing the sum of two thousand, five hundred and eighty thousand naira (N2,580), a lighter, a pen and a blue veil,”
“Many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds. Search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view of arresting them and/or recovering their dead bodies.
“The Command is appealing to members of the communities around the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected injury.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Command, in charge of elections, CP Koo Yusuf, commended the efforts of the Police and the vigilante for the display of uncommon courage, gallantry and professionalism in dealing with the hoodlums.”
