OKODUWA SIGNS PACT WITH ITALIAN INSTITUTE TO FIGHT UNEMPLOYMENT, HUNGER

The Initiative for Youth Awareness on Migration Immigration Development and Reintegration (IYAMIDR) has signed a pact with an Italian training institute in a bid to arrest the spate of youth restiveness and other crime in Nigeria.

The pact was reached through its lead facilitator Dr Antonio Lovecchio Knight of Malta Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Gran Priorato Autonomo di Liguria.

The deal was reached by the two parties in presence of the representative of Edo National Voice ENV, Udinyiwe Osasumwen Linda and Mr Izekor Samuel, President of Edo Cultural Association Rome Italy who doubles as the Director of Strategic Planning and Training, IYAMIDR Nigeria.

These were made known by Comrade Solomon Okoduwa, Executive Director of IYAMIDR, in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City on Thursday.

According to him, “This partnership is tailored towards enhancing the capacity of Nigeria Youths with viable skills to boost the Nigeria economy in various sectors. Over the years, youth restiveness, unemployment and hunger have been the major causes of crime and other anti social vices that sometimes occur within the Nigeria society.”

This training project will be done in collaboration with Edo National Voice ENV, a Benin Socio-cultural Organizations that promote Benin cultural heritage and the Benin Royal throne, Okoduwa revealed.

The skill acquisition programme according to the statement is aimed at building capacity in welding and fabrication.

This, Okoduwa reassured will afford Nigerian youths the opportunity to be trained and empowered in yatch maintenance, ship dockyard, gas pipe welding, rail track installation and maintenance.

However, the former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti Human Trafficking has appreciated Ambassador Mfawa Abam of Nigeria Embassy Rome for his support towards this project.

Okoduwa concluded that the project is geared towards the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Amhed Tinubu in building confidence in the Nigerian Youth and making Nigeria great again.
