Obaseki meets Edo PDP excos, others, strategize ahead of LG polls
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday, met with the Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, and other members of the PDP State Executive Committee, to strategize ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
Obaseki, who spoke to journalists after a closed-door meeting at the PDP Secretariat, Benin City, urged all party executives and members to work in unity to ensure the party’s victory at the LG polls.
He said, “This is a State Executive Committee meeting which is the highest policy-making body of PDP in the State. Ahead of the Local Government election, after the last set of elections, we are reorganizing and recalibrating the party and it’s going to be ready to win any election in the state.
“This meeting is to bring everybody on board to make sure that all members, particularly leaders of the party, feel a sense of inclusion and participation. The meeting is to carry everybody along as we move to the next stage of the political activities in the state.”
He added, “The crack in the party has been healed and mended and clearly there might be some people who have fundamental differences with the mainstream of the party. It will not stop the party as it will continue to grow and wax stronger and dominate the state.
“The PDP is the ruling party and the main party in Edo State and it will remain so. Our goal now is to win and get more members and citizens to see the great work the PDP government is doing in the state and join in moving Edo forward.”
