Obaseki joins Osinbajo, Obasanjo, Jonathan, others to pay last respects to Bayelsa gov’s late father
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the weekend, joined Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, among other dignitaries to pay last respects to the late father of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Duoye Diri.
Other dignitaries at the event include the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi, among others.
Addressing journalists at the event held in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou in Kolokumokokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Governor Godwin Obaseki commended late Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri for bequeathing a good legacy of education.
He said, “People who came from homes where education is emphasized tend to behave and show certain modes of behavior as this reflects in the character of the Governor of Bayelsa State. He is a man full of deep analysis and humility as it reflects that the governor was properly brought up by an accomplished teacher, late Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri.”
The governor noted, “Education should be a priority for families, society, states, and countries. When you train a child, you have built the foundation, fundamental values and orientation of that child which reflect in the leadership qualities of that educated child.”
He said education, particularly basic education is the platform through which you reset the growth and development of any society, noting, “Late Pa Diri is an accomplished man, a light to his community as he has impacted lives and created new order for his community.”
Other dignitaries at the event include: Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; his counter in Akwa-Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel; Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Osun State counterpart, Senator Ademola Adeleke, among others.
