A human right group under the aegis of Nigerian and Edos in Diaspora (NIDO), has urged the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo and other relevant authorities to intervene immediately in what they call escalating violence and senseless killings of youths in Edo State and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to the secretary of the organization, Hamzaosa Ode-Idahosa, in a letter to Governor Okpebholo, said the continuous loss of young lives has left families shattered, communities traumatized, and our future threatened on a daily basis. Youths in Diaspora can’t come home for festivities, businesses have been slowing down due to the tension in the entire Edo state as a result of the violent killings.
They appeal for prompt attention of the governor to end the crises that have brought perpetual fear and to ensure security, safety and well-being of the youths.
The letter reads; His Excellency,Governor of Edo State,
His majesty,the Oba of benin
The Honorable Members of the National/State Assembly,
Community leaders and all the state leaders.
We the Nigerians and Edos in Diaspora , humbly beg and urge your Excellency to intervene immediately in the escalating violence and senseless killings of our youths in Edo State.
To de-escalate and put an end to it with immediate effect..
The continuous loss of young lives has left families shattered, communities traumatized, and our future threatened on a daily basis .Youths in diaspora can’t come home for festivities.Businesses have been slowing slowing down due to the tension in the entire Edo state as a result of the violent killings, individuals living in Edo state have left, making business ownership to suffer a great loss as well.We implore you to take decisive action immediately to:
1. Investigate and bring perpetrators to justice.
2. Increase security presence and patrols in vulnerable areas.
3. Provide support and logistics protection for victims’ families.
4. Address underlying causes of violence and work towards lasting solutions.
We as Edolites in Diaspora we are pleading for your prompt attention to this crisis that have brought perpetual fear. To ensure security and safety and the well-being of our youths. Their lives matter, and their future is our collective responsibility.
We are pleading with our Excellency executive governor of Edo state,
To create job opportunity for the youth of edo state by engaging them in meaningful activities that can bring prosperity and success.
