National grid collapses again, the fourth in 2024
The National Electricity grid has experienced another system failure leading to a nationwide blackout.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed this in a statement released on Saturday, July 6. According to the distribution company, the power outage being experienced within its franchise is due to a system failure from the national grid.
“Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 3:10pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas,” the AEDC said.
The DisCo said it is working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised.
The national electricity grid first collapsed in 2024 on February 4. On March 28, it suffered another collapse. On April 14, the nation’s electricity grid yet again experienced another system collapse.
