The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Development, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has secured commitments from the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro-Gbaraun 11, Aketekpe, Agadagba, and Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) to do everything within their power to ensure peace in the region.
This pledge was made during the minister’s official tour of the region and inspection of projects carried out by the ministry and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), during which he paid homage to the Kingdom on Sunday.
Accompanied by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director and CEO of NDDC, Minister Momoh emphasized that his visit was on behalf of Mr. President, Senator Bola Tinubu.
He said, “Given Senator Tinubu’s dedication to the development of the entire country and the Niger Delta region, to which I am assigned as the minister, I felt it was essential to experience the region firsthand before addressing its challenges from the office”.
Reflecting on his recent visit to Delta State, via Asaba to Warri, Minister Momoh stressed the critical role of stakeholders in maintaining peace for meaningful regional development.
He conveyed Mr. President’s message, urging continued efforts to uphold peace in the region, facilitating optimal oil production and minimizing oil theft.
According to the Minister, “my message to Gbaramatu resonates with the entire Kingdom and the wider region, marking a pivotal moment in my assignment. I secured a peace commitment from both the Monarch and Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo in this singular trip”, he said.
