MARKET WOMEN CHARGED TO OWN THEIR ENVIRONMENT

The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion has appealed to market women in the State to continue to support Governor Godwin Obaseki’s mandate to achieve a cleaner and greener Edo.

Arc. Omokhodion who made this appeal when he held a meeting with the Market Women Association of Edo State in his Office in Benin City, noted that it is the mandate of Governor Obaseki to bequeath an environment that is healthy and safe for his people, adding that it is imperative for them to start owning the environment by engaging in healthy environmental practices.

While condemning the incessant dumping of refuse in unauthorized places, especially market environs, Arc. Omokhodion said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the State is kept clean and healthy for all.

In his words, “women as mothers play a significant role in instilling discipline especially on environmental sanitation as part of home training and that is why I called you, not to relent in your efforts to have a clean market’’

President of the Association, Mrs. Blacky Omoregie applauded the Commissioner for his efforts towards having cleaner markets for Edo people, urging the Governor to ensure proper enforcement of sanitation laws when defaulters are apprehended.
