Marcus Onobun Empowers Constituents
…reels out achievements in office after one year
The member representing Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal Constituency in the green chambers of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun Ksc, has empowered some members of his Constituency with sowing machines, bikes and cash. This was after they had gone through a one week intensive training program anchored by The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
The ceremony which took place in the hall of the Esan West Local Government Council Secretariat yesterday Monday, attracted top party leaders and 70 beneficiaries from the three Local Governments that make up the Federal Constituency with the Speaker of The Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Agbegbaku as the Special Guest of Honour. Each of the beneficiaries were given starter packs of a sowing machine, one hundred naira cash while 20 farmers were given bikes to ease transportation of their products from their farms.
In his opening speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Chief Francis Ulifun, commended Rt. Hon. Onobun for living up to expectations despite the challenges he is facing. He thanked God for spearing his life after the serious car accident he was involved in on his way to Abuja for national duties. On his part, Hon. Marcus Onobun charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items to start off their businesses. He warned that the days of waiting for blue collared jobs are fast fading in the country.
Rt. Hon. Onobun also reeled out some approved projects he has attracted to the Constituency within his one year in office. They include the empowerment of constituents for poultry farming coming up in August to meet up the demands of chickens during the Christmas period, four Solar Powered boreholes and five hundred solar street lights and one kilometer road in the College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University. He said that he is also in touch with the managements of the Ambrose Alli University and Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for some developmental projects.
Rt. Hon. Onobun, who is also the immediate past Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and currently the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rural Development, thanked the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki for constantly being with him in his periods of challenges . He urged the constituents to vote massively for the PDP candidate in the coming governorship election, Barr. Asue Ighodalo. He noted that the PDP presently has total dominance of the Federal Constituency despite the crisis the party faced during the last elections. The PDP has the member House of Representatives, two of the three members House of Assembly and the three Local Government Councils chairmen in the Federal Constituency.
