JUNE 12: Hon Dr Joseph Ikpea felicitates with Edolite on Democracy Day
A Frontline Edo State governorship aspirant and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Dr Joseph Ikpea, has felicitated with the people of Edo State and Nigerians on Democracy Day.
In a signed message to Nigerians in Benin City, Monday, the Edo State governorship aspirant said June 12, marked as Democracy Day in Nigeria symbolises Nigerians’ desire for democracy, justice, and respect for the will of the people.
He said it also represents the struggle against military dictatorship and the fight for the recognition of the people’s choice in governance.
The message reads: “On this momentous occasion of Democracy Day, we celebrate the strength and resilience of our democracy, which has been the bedrock of our nation’s progress and development.
“Our democracy has come a long way since its restoration in 1999. We have witnessed the peaceful transition of power from one administration to another. This is a testament to the maturity and wisdom of our citizens and the tireless efforts of those who have championed democratic principles.”
He urged all Nigerians to be steadfast and calm as he perfectly understands the pains citizenry are going through because of subsidy removal at the moment. He assured that all will be well soon as government across board implements planned palliatives to cushion the effects.
