I’ve Made My Choice, Respect It – Lady Amen Elizerbeth
At my age and at this stage of my life, I don’t need to be told who to support in an election, or why I should support a particular candidate or party.
Initially, I was not a supporter of Dr Asue Ighodalo when the campaigns started for the governorship election. But while I was waiting for people to give me reasons why I shouldn’t accept the man they started dwelling on trivialities telling me the man is a stranger and and that he can’t speak Esan language.
Now when I took a critical look at the situation, I told myself this is not the issues people should be discussing in this 21st century, I was expecting someone to come out with a case of a wrong done by the man when he served in different organizations
Just like Hon Dr. Inedegbor Kelly, Executive Chairman Esan North East, told me sometime ago, he said he attended a senatorial meeting at Ubiaja and everything that was done in that meeting was done with the official language then he asked himself a question, “if at the level of our senatorial district everything is done with English, what is the necessity of saying someone do not understand or speak Esan when he’s going to serve as the governor of the state where Esan is not the official language?”
I have both theoretical and practical knowledge of politics, I do not need anyone to lie to me about who to support , whoever I chose to support must first be in conformity with my conscience, then I would put the interest of my people into consideration.
Imagine for instance, in my family everyone vote the party I belong to, but when I brought up APC as an option, even my mum who’s not a politician, my siblings and even some of my friends that I know whatever my political decision is they would follow me they all rejected APC before I could end my speech, I can’t watch my mom or any member of my family vote against me in an election.
Today, if not that some persons believe politics is about lies and personal interest over general interest, I see no reason why anyone with his right thinking mind would choose SMO over Asue Ighodalo. With the hardship in the country, now how do some of you find sleep knowing you’re chosing APC over PDP?
When I look at all this I feel it’s selfishness and lack of will to do what is right that is making us discuss voting anyone over AiO². But I can’t let whatever interest that I have override the interest of the generality of my people
Even if Asue Ighodalo do not even know me or recognize me, I have a local government chairman who’s from my village and he’s doing a lot for Uromi and my community in particular. Now if you want to discuss anything with me, it should be how to make sure my brother remains in office so that the good plans he has for my community and Uromi in general is not jeopardized
If lies is the only thing people have to play politics with, they obviously can’t have me in the same line with them, I want a better Edo state in Uromi, Esan, and deep down you know if it was about a better society for us all you won’t be supporting the party that has made our country the poverty capital of the world, you won’t be supporting a serving senator who has nothing to show and at the same time can’t even come out to express himself
I have taken a stand, and I either win with AiO² or lose with them, nothing anyone can offer me that can change that my decision and if this my decision offends anyone mostly those people I had looked up to in so many ways I beg to say I’m sorry I can’t do anything against my conscience. I expect them to understand my decision just like my boss Engr Albert Osemudiamhen Ibhafidon when I told him why I can’t leave PDP he saw reasons with me and even gave some advice.
PDP is the party, Asue Ighodalo/Osarodion Ogie are the candidates and they are sure not going to let us down when they get to power
