INDEPENDENCE DAY: EDO PDP SALUTES NIGERIANS
.. calls on the Federal Government to emulate Edo state governor in addressing sufferings of Nigerians
“As our nation marks its 63rd Independence Anniversary, we members of the Edo State Chapter of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), salute all Nigerians and give praises to God Almighty for sparing our lives to witness this day. Despite all the numerous challenges and hardships the country has been facing under the APC led Federal Government for the past 8 years, God in his infinite mercies has kept us going and united.
For us in Edo State, we hold this day sacred with all sentiments bearing in mind that it was our great son of blessed memories, late Chief Anthony Enahoro that moved the motion for our independence several decades ago.
” As a caring party, the PDP led Edo State Government, under the headship of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, has rolled out palliative measures to cushion the effects of the hardships meted on Nigerians by the sudden, unplanned removal of the fuel subsidy by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led APC Federal Government. Amongst other measures, the state government reduced the working days of civil servants to 3 days a week, distributed essential commodities to the less privileged citizens living in the rural areas and recently launched the free bus services across the state.
“We urge the Federal Government to emulate the Edo State government, by rolling out visible and tangible palliatives to address the sufferings of Nigerians. While we acknowledge the fact that the removal of the fuel subsidy was inevitable, we expected the Federal Government to have gradually implemented this after putting in place measures to cushion the expected effects on the cost of living.
“We want to salute the Nigerian workers and our security personnel who have kept on going in the midst of the struggles the APC led Federal Government has subjected us to. We urge everyone in Edo State not to relent but keep faith with the Obaseki led administration as it poses to finish strong by delivering on its campaign promises.
