Ikiewanlen to Get Brand New 500KVA Transformer and Lawnmower, courtesy of Dr. Henry Ohen
According to Dr. Ohens Adonor; “When the Ikiewanlen Water Scheme was commissioned on October 21, 2023, the people of Ikiewanlen Opoji expressed the need for the village to procure a new electricity transformer. They also explained that Ikiewanlen Primary School has been overtaken by weeds and shrubs and that a lawnmower was required to maintain the school’s vast football field and surrounding areas. They told me that today’s primary school kids are too young, too feeble, and too few to maintain their school premises.
“Therefore, since our people wanted me to buy them these items, I made a firm promise *to do something very soon.*
“Before I returned to the U.S. from Nigeria, I called my senior brother, *Dr. Henry Ohen,* and we discussed the letter of request our people handed to me.
“Two days later, my brother shocked me with a call and the decision he had reached. Calmly, he said: *”Adonor, I am proud of what you have already done at home. Please, do not bother about the transformer and lawnmower. I will buy and deliver them to the village.”* I was pleasantly surprised!
“Therefore, it is with a high sense of gratitude that I make this announcement here; that the lawnmower has been bought and that plans have been made to deliver the transformer and lawnmower to the village.
*”Please join me to offer many thanks to my senior brother and our Interim President of Opoji D’Light Worldwide, Dr. Henry Ohen.*
“With his kind gesture and the work many others have done, now and in the past, the development of Opoji has already commenced. There are some projects we can accomplish, person by person, village by village, and there are some we have to accomplish together as a collective. Let’s start giving in every little and big ways. Do not wait to be asked or prodded.
“Philanthropists will tell you that one of the reasons they give generously is because *givers never lack and no one has ever become broke from giving.* We, Opoji people are lucky to have many sons and daughters who are richly blessed. Please, if you are moved to give back to the community, kindly look homeward. Opoji needs you. Opoji needs us. Our villages need us.
“Most often, what we do for ourselves goes with us. However, what we do for the community outlives us.
God bless Dr. Henry Ohen, his wife, Mrs. Philomena Ohen, and their children and grand children.”
