How we created opportunities to boost access to credit, economic expansion in Edo – Obaseki
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the expeditious processing of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) and land titles in the State are some of the reforms that have enabled business owners to leverage their landed assets as collaterals to access credit.
The governor, who made the submission in a chat with journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital, noted that efforts have been intensified to attract investment into the State.
According to him, “We opened up more job centers to train and assist young people to obtain jobs while we sustained the enabling environment for private businesses to grow. By issuing C-of-Os and land titles expeditiously, many more citizens were able to have collaterals with which to obtain credit.”
He added: “The state health insurance scheme reached almost 200,000 enrollees, thus further strengthening our healthcare system. As a result of the financing and quality control provided by the Health Insurance Scheme, we continue to improve the quality of our primary healthcare footprints and work is also progressing on our secondary healthcare facilities in Benin City and Auchi while work will commence in Uromi in the year 2024”
The Obaseki-led government has continued to push reforms that have opened the State’s economy to new investment in the real estate, manufacturing, food processing, energy, lifestyle and hospitality, e-commerce, and sports sectors.
