A Frontline governorship hopeful in the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election, Hon. Joseph Ikpea, has sent congratulatory message to Nigerian music star, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, as he made it to the Guinness World Book of Records.
Recall the singer’s hit song, ‘Calm Down’ made history as the first No.1 Hit on The Official MENA Chart (the world’s first regional streaming chart). This was made known in a post shared on the singer’s statistics Twitter account last Saturday. He was recognised for securing the first number 1 hit on the world’s first regional streaming chart and first-ever official chart in the Middle East and North Africa.
Reacting in a short statement, Hon. Joseph Ikpea, rejoiced with the music star describing him as ‘a pride to nigeria”. He urged him not to be carried away with the feat but to work harder and win more to make the country proud.
He said, ” I join the Nigeria entrainment industry and Edo people to celebrate our own musical icon, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as rema, for being honored with guineas book of record on his track, calm down. Which recorded one billion views in Spotify, you are indeed a pride to nigeria.
” Well done for the beautiful art work that has won the interest of billion followers, this achievements has shown that Edo got talents and indeed Nigeria got talents. Congratulations and please don’t be carried away by this achievement and start playing away your time, I urge you to be focused on your career and work harder to achieve far better awards and recognition. I pray for more work from you and more wins.
The governorship hopeful further said, ” I will ensure when I become governor, more beautiful talents would be discovered and put on the limelight because I know there are many out there waiting to be discovered and assisted to hit the music limelight. I promise to invest in the talents of Edo born artists, actors and music stars in the entertainment industry. He said.
Report had it that Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ debuted at No. 1 when the MENA Chart was launched into the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry on November 29, 2022.
