Hon. Joseph Ikpea Celebrates Oshiomole’s Tribunal Victory
….says, “It’s Triumph for Edo State”
Hon. Joseph Ikpea, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a leading gubernatorial aspirant in Edo State, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomole for his recent victory at the Benin City tribunal. The announcement was made during a press briefing in Benin City on Monday.
Ikpea characterized Senator Oshiomole’s triumph over Sen. Francis Alimikhena of the PDP in the Edo North Senatorial district as expected, given the overwhelming support of Edo North voters for Oshiomole and the APC. He praised Oshiomole as a seasoned leader with deep grassroots influence and urged constituents from Edo North, regardless of party affiliations, to unite in supporting him. Ikpea expressed confidence that Oshiomole’s leadership would usher in significant development with a direct impact on the people.
In a plea to Sen. Francis Alimikhena and the opposition, Ikpea encouraged them to forgo the idea of appealing the case, as he believed it would be an exercise in futility. Instead, he called on them to channel their efforts into supporting Sen. Adams Aliyu Oshiomole for the betterment of Edo North senatorial district.
The message concluded with a congratulatory note to Prof. Julius Ihonvbere for his tribunal victory in the Owan Federal Constituency house of representatives election, where he defeated Jimoh Ijegbai of the PDP.
It’s important to note that the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Benin, upheld INEC’s declaration of Adams Oshiomole as the winner of the February 25, 2023 Edo North Senatorial district election and also affirmed Julius Ihonvbere of the APC as the winner of the Owan Federal Constituency election, also held on February 25, 2023. Both Oshiomole and Ihonvbere had been challenged in the tribunal by their PDP counterparts, Francis Alimikhena and Jimoh Ijegbai, respectively.
