HON. DR. JOSEPH IKPEA: The Man Edo Needs Now
The last that was heard about Library, and encouragement of reading and research culture in Edo State was his days as Edo State Library Board Chairman.
The last that was heard about Red-Roof revolution in Edo State was his days as Board Member of State Universal Basic Education Board. There were verifiable massive investments in education and educational infrastructure in his days.
The last that was heard about teaching and teachers’ recruitment was his days as Board Member representing Edo Central District in SUBEB as employable and qualified youths with background in education were gainfully employed and absorbed directly into Edo State Civil Service……. Over the years, all these changed. All we now hear is EDOSTAR-just a mere collection of contract staffs to teach for a defined period of two years.
The last time we saw Governor’s commendation to a serving local government chairman for prudent management of resources and infrastructural development amidst global recession, was his days as Esan South East local government chairman…… While activities were grounded in other local governments of the states to the extent of not being able to pay common salaries, the Ewatto born proactive manager of resources; accelerated development in the council area. Payment of salaries was a habitual routine. How he managed to achieve this, is possibly a discussion for another day.
The last time we witnessed 24/7 security surveillance in our local government, was his days as council boss…… With provision of three habitable security houses (standard flats) along the dreaded Ella river and Ewohimi-Onichugbo-Road for rotational use by security operatives (day and night shifts); kidnappings and other criminalities were tamed during his tenure as local government chairman.
Obviously, Edo 2024 GUBER’ race is between Hon Dr Joseph Ikpea, and may be; one or two others, if any.
Edo will smile again!
Our worry days will be over!!
The god times will soon be here!!!
