Hon. Anthony Ojo has announced his withdrawal from the senatorial race, citing the wise counsel of *Senator Monday Okpebholo*, the Leader of the APC and Executive Governor of Edo State.
This bold, but hard decision comes after three months of intense campaigning and consultations with party leaders across the state, which has garnered significant support.
Hon. Ojo expressed his gratitude to the APC leadership, his supporters, and the campaign team, wishing everyone a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Truly, his decision to step down is a testament to his commitment and dedication to the party’s structure, unity and the greater good of Edo Central Senatorial District.
However, It’s worth noting here that Senator Okpebholo’s counsel largely carried significant weight, given his position as the Leader of the APC in Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo himself was nominated almost unopposed as the APC candidate for the Edo Central Senatorial District in the 2023 elections .
Hon. Anthony Ojo’s stepping down from the Senatorial race is to give support to Hon. Joseph Ikpea following the endorsement of the later by APC leaders in the entire Esan South East Local Government over the weekend.
