Grudge in God’s Name
By John Mayaki
Who told you their excellencies cannot fight in the House of God? At least, we’ve seen Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, holding a grudge in the presence of God. Well, on a day practically oozing with joy, electrified with celebration and wild fiesta over the state’s thirty-second year of existence, we witnessed the true character of Governor Godwin Obaseki – a man of steel; unbending and unyielding to the childishness of his Deputy.
I mean, who needs theater tickets when you can witness a man wearing a face that seems to say, “I’m carrying enough grudges to sink a ship”? A man’s face, etched like an ancient map, embossed with the weight of grudge and enmity. It’s like he carried a rain cloud over his head on a day meant for sunshine. Not even the anointed men of God present at the occasion could sprinkle holy water on the governor to cast out the deadly grudge.
It’s as if he had a personal vendetta against happiness, even amidst divine revelry. Oh, you mean you haven’t seen the picture? You’re missing out!
Back in the day, this land was called Bendel State, but the winds of change blew in, and suddenly we had the grand unveiling of Edo and Delta. Like a makeover show gone wild, but hey, change is the spice of life, right? Even within the seemingly convivial relationship of both men, change has occurred – enmity has crept in, even in the presence of God.
So, the Government House turned into a stage for a thanksgiving ceremony. We’re talking about holy men strutting their stuff, blessing everything within a five-mile radius. But hold on, we have a governor who, fresh from his crash course in “How to Avoid Eye Contact 101,” managed to dodge his deputy as if they were playing a grown-up version of hide-and-seek. Obaseki is locked in a political wrestling match with his deputy, gave the cold shoulder to his Deputy like it was going out of style.
Now, let’s dive into some deeper philosophical territory. The sacred texts were whipped out, words practically humming with divine wisdom, and guess what they revealed? The concept of “Grudge: The Almighty Edition,” where even in the hallowed halls of heaven, enmity decided to set up camp. Leaders who should be spreading unity like confetti seem to have their own playbook titled “How to Stir Up Chaos.”
Here’s the game the governor played – he assembled a squadron of guards, standing as solid as a fortress wall, ensuring the Deputy Governor stayed in his designated corner. It’s like they took a page from the “Great Wall of China Handbook” to make sure no one crossed their invisible line. He attempted, but failed – yes, even the Executive Governor of Edo State faces frustration – proving once again that the rich also cry!
And all this drama? Oh, it unfolded in the divine amphitheater, where the heavens themselves tuned in for this cosmic sitcom. Because nothing screams “stellar leadership” quite like political differences played out on the universal stage, right? So there you have it, folks, the Governor who’s ensuring that grudges get their moment in the celestial spotlight. Bravo to our illustrious leaders. You’re leading us well!
