Group prunes down list of Edo Central guber aspirants to 15
A group, the Esan National Conference has released what it calls, ‘Edo Central Official List of Aspirants for Edo 2024’ with only 15 gubernatorial aspirants drawn from the five local government areas in the district.
Dr Odegua Isaberu, the Convener of the conference in a statement said the names were drawn from across the three major political parties namely PDP, APC, LP, and supercedes all hitherto lists that has been flying around.
On the list are; Prof Oserheime Osunbor, Mr Gideon Obhakhan and Mr Gideon Ikhine and Kingsley Ulinfu, from Esan West LGA.
Hon John Yakubu, Dr Mike Onolenmenmen, Hon Sam Oboh, Benjamin Mayor Igberaese, from Esan North East LGA.
Hon Sergius Ogun, Mr Ighodaro Asuen, Mr Ken Imasuangbon, Hon Festus Ebea and Hon Joseph Ikpea, from Esan South East LGA.
Engr Emmanuel Okoebor, from Esan Central LGA.
While Mr John Inegbedion, from Igueben LGA.
Dr Odegua, who spoke on behalf of the seven man screening committee, added that the Esan National Conference, comprises most registered and unregistered NGOs and groups in Esanland, and of Esanland in diaspora, and they set up a Seven Man Committee that met between 24th of April and 11th of May 2024, at the Ambrose Alli graveside in Emaudo, Ekpoma, before taking the historic decision in the overall interest of Edo Central District which is favored by many in Edo State to produce the next Governor of Edo State having not produced a substantive Governor since 1999.
