Gov. Obaseki Enhancing Public Health: Hon. Enaholo Ojeifoh Tours Water Project, others in Edo Central

The Edo State Honourable Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Amb Enaholo Ojeifoh, today embarked on a holiday tour to inspect various projects initiated by Governor Obaseki. One of the significant projects reviewed was the completion of the Edo State Water Project in Ugboha, which aims to provide a reliable water supply to Uromi and its surrounding areas.

The project involved the construction of a water treatment plant and the establishment of infrastructure to connect the project to the nearby big river dam. With the project’s completion, the water supply system is now operational and has commenced supplying water to Uromi and its environs. This development is crucial as it addresses the long-standing water scarcity issues in the area, especially during the dry season.

While at the inspection site, a resident who was delighted at the sight of the Commissioner, basking in euphoria of gratitude opined “This new water supply system has ensured improved access to safe drinking water, which is essential for promoting public health and hygiene. We are immensely grateful to the Governor for extending this to us as our package of dividends of democracy. Our people have been delivered from diseases like typhoid, diarrhea, and dysentery tied to poor drinking water. I will want to use this medium to also appeal to the Governor to help fix the ugly situation of the Benin-Auchi expressway”.

The Commissioner is delighted at the giant stride of Gov. Obaseki in Edo Central, as it will positively impact the community. Access to clean water contributes to improved sanitation practices, reduce waterborne diseases, and enhance the overall quality of life. He also noted that the availability of a reliable water supply can also have economic benefits for the region. It can support agricultural activities, facilitate small-scale industries, and attract investment opportunities, thereby boosting the local economy.

Other completed projects by Gov. Obaseki are Odazagba Road, Uromi, and Edojob Training Centre, Uromi. The host communities of these projects are in high spirits owing to the social and economic contributions of the projects.

The commissioner also assessed the deplorable Emuhi road, Idumoza-Uwesan Road, and the dilapidated Ekpoma – Irrua axis of the Benin- Auchi expressway. It is the expectation of commuters that the commissioner’s visit to the bad spots will propel the state government intervention.

Amb. Enaholo submitted that the projects completed in Edo Central reflect the commitment of Governor Obaseki’s administration to governance and infrastructure development in Edo State. He assures the readiness of the government to address the needs of the people and ensures the provision of essential services.
