GOD’S PROJECT: THE INCOMING ESAN SOUTH EAST COUNCIL CHAIRMAN.
(ABOUT SUSAN OTEKPEN)
Susan Otekpen hails from Onogholo Community (ward 8) in Esan South East local government of Edo State. Her mother is from Olinlin Uzea in Esan North East local government of Edo State.
Susan Otekpen attended Oguola Primary School in Benin City, Edo State, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. After that, she obtained her Junior and Senior Secondary School Certificates from Agba Grammar School, Uromi, in Esan North East local government. As a lover of education, Susan Otekpen went further to obtain her National Certificate in Education (NCE) at Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba, Delta State, as well as Bachelor of Science (Ed.) in Guidance and Counseling at the Imo State University.
In the area of job experience, Susan Otekpen has made a mark as a woman with an overwhelming, convincing and intimidating profile. Before now, she has worked as a development worker. She is the Executive Director of Hope for the Unborn Child Foundation (a non-governmental organisation). This organisation was birthed due to a near-death experience she had during childbirth. The main aim of this foundation has been to provide accessible and quality healthcare for hard-to-reach communities in the State to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Also, it provides psycho-social support for women who have gone through issues during delivery. Furthermore, the foundation engages in activities that promote and improve the girl child, to mention a few.
This organisation has also executed many projects across the State. These projects include but are not limited to;
1. Renovation of existing Primary Health Centre and construction of nurses’ quarters in Oria Primary Health Centre ( Esan South East LGA)
2. Renovation of existing Primary Health Centre in Illushi and provision of borehole for the facility ( Esan South East LGA)
3. Renovation of the Eguaholor Primary Health Centre in Uhunmwonde LGA
4. Construction of 20 unit toilet facility for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Uhogua Community in Ovia North East LGA.
5. Advocated for the supply of solar-powered vaccine storage equipment for Illushi and Oria Primary Health Centre to enable infants to get vaccinated timely (Esan South East LGA)
Susan advocates for the girl child; she believes a woman can reach her full potential if given the enabling environment. Susan Otekpen is blessed with daughters.
