One person I have come to admire and respect his political sagacity, is ESV Amb. Tony Okonigene. I can tell this for a fact that I am not alone here. Without fear of any contradiction, I can say that one of the must influential and loved political figures in Edo Central is Amb. Tony Okonigene.
A chartered Estate Surveyor and Valuer by training and practice, many have mistaken him for a lawyer while not a few take him for a journalist. This is because of his ability to captivate and convince his audience with his online articles. He is not just good in writing but also an orator. He is easily the most strategically minded politician I have ever come across
Amb. Tony Okonigene has one undeniable character going for him. That is, the ability to take to a logical conclusion whatever course he believes in. It is practically impossible for him to betray anyone he backs in any course. He is an example of a trusted ally and this is one attribute that endears him to people. Hate him or love him, you cannot afford to relegate him in any political scheme.
His stance with the Asue/Ogie candidacy has swayed a number of people to supporting the PDP in Edo Central Senatorial District especially among the youths. Amb. Tony Okonigene is seen as a role model and a reliable leader they can trust. Such trust was demonstrated recently when Sir Clement Aziegbemi, a youth mobilizer who initially resigned from the PDP, rescinded his resignation and came back fully into the party because of Amb. Tony Okonigene whom he described as his political foster father. Most youths and elders alike, especially in his unit in Usugbenu are supporting the PDP candidate because of the person of Amb. Tony Okonigene.
It goes without contradiction, that the outcome of the coming governorship election, especially in Esan Central LGA , will be determined by the position of ESV Amb. Tony Okonigene who I see as my dependable leader. With him as the PDP Esan Central Campaign Council Director of Operations, the APC is going to have a herculean task in Esan Central LGA even with the party’s candidate being from the local government.
