Esan West LGA Dismisses Claims by APC responsible for the rehabilitation of Federal Highway
The Esan West Local Government Council has dismissed claims by All Progressives Congress APC, responsible for the rehabilitation of Ekpoma Axis of the Benin-Auchi highway by Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The council in a press statement titled “Re: Clarification Regarding the Facilitation and Rehabilitation of Federal Road in Edo State” signed by its chief press secretary Godday Idemudia Okoida
said it’s a lie and that the rehabilitation of the Benin-Auchi Expressway by BUA Group is a result of Edo state government intervention.
Mr. Goddy Okoide further states that the BUA Group handling the project has no knowledge about Monday Okpebholo’s personality as they only liaise with Edo state government and the local government Chairman of Esan West Council, Hon. Collins Aigbogun. Before the project commencement, BUA Group reached out to the state government on their schedules, and Gov. Godwin Obaseki directed the Executive Chairman of Esan West Council, Hon. Collins Aigbogun to render all necessary supports to the contractors to ensure the project is successful.
He called on the APC and it’s media aid John Miyaki to always get the right information before coming to the public domain and stop paddling falsehood.
The statement reads;
RE: Clarification Regarding the Facilitation and Rehabilitation of Federal Government Road in Edo State
Dear Mr. John Mayaki,
I read in your recent post, where you were trying so hard to attribute the rehabilitation of Ekpoma Axis of the Benin-Auchi high way to Senator Monday Okpebholo thereby urging the Esan West Council Chairman, Hon. Collins Aigbogun and the State Government to stop misleading the public by claiming glory of the project.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have dignified your watering write up with any response but in order not to deceive the public who may not have been so conversant with the truth, I found it prudent so to do.
Dear Mayaki, I understand how tedious media work is to you right now and I also understand the challenges of defending or marketing a bad product. I am very sure it’s your inability to continue defending the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Monday Okpebholo that made you to decline the position of Media Director of APC governorship Campaign Council.
It is obvious even if you export a cow from Nigeria to a whiteman’s country, the colour of its feces will still not change, regardless, I will take little of my time to school you more on the subject matter (Rehabilitation of Benin Auchi road). This time, I will do it in a layman way because it seems after all the videos and pictorial evidence on the public domain, you still do not have a knowledge of the project you are trying to attribute or credit to your party’s governorship candidate.
The rehabilitation of the Benin-Auchi Expressway by BUA Group is a result of Edo state government intervention. Recall that sometime ago, the minister of works visited Edo state to inspect federal government road in the state. I am also sure you saw in a viral video where the state governor Godwin Obaseki registered his displeasure on the state of the federal road before the minister of works and promised to liaise with Dangote cement and BUA Group who are the highest users of the road to commence palliative measures on some failed portions of the federal road before the federal government will wake up to her responsibilities. (If you didn’t see the video, please let me know and I will send it to you privately).
The ongoing rehabilitation of the Ekpoma Axis of the Benin-Auchi federal government road is a result of the meeting and the agreement the state government had with the BUA Group.
Let me also school you that, the BUA Group handling the project has no knowledge about Monday Okpebholo’s personality as they only liaise with Edo state government and the local government Chairman of Esan West Council, Hon.
The contributions of Hon. Collins Aigbogun to the project can not be overemphasized or underestimated. He secured two different storage facilities (yards) for the contractors to store their equipments. He provided accomodations for all the workers and has also put in place measures to protect the lives and properties of the contractors. From the very day the project commenced till this very moment, Hon. Collins Aigbogun has always visited the site for project inspection.
*Mr. Mayaki, please what has been the contribution of Monday Okpebholo to the ongoing project?*
We all were aware how Senator Adams Oshiomhole berated the federal government and Minister of works for approving a budget of only 200 Million Naira for the reconstruction of Benin-Auchi Expressway. That was a very clear indication that the federal government has no plan for the project. The only time Senator Monday Okpebholo spoke about the Benin-Auchi Road was when he recorded a video to deceive Edo people that after a due consultation with the president, the total reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi Road will commence and be completed within 6 months from the day he made that video (that was about 4 months ago) till date, nothing to show for that. John Mayaki, why do you think Edo people are so daft to take you or your sponsors seriously. I ask again, what do you take Edo people for…
The first time Monday Okpebholo visited the project site was during an unholy hours of the day when contractors had left the site. He recorded a disgraceful video which he could not defend till date.
The second time Monday Okpebholo visited the site was when he came with Adams Oshiomhole and the minister of works to purportedly commission the project but they were resisted and humiliated by residents for trying to acclaim glory of a project they knew nothing about, simply because they want to win an election by deceit.
Mr. John Mayaki, in your watering write up, you never provided any verifiable fact or an observable evidence of Senator Monday Okpebholo’s contributions to the ongoing road rehabilitation in Ekpoma.
What happened to Monday Okpebholo’s earlier claim that the reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi Road will be completed within 6 months so the party can have what to campaign with in Edo state? Aside the 200 Million Naira earlier budgeted for the reconstruction of the road, which other budget was approved for the project by the federal government?
John Mayaki, I know this job is too difficult and hectic for you which was part of the reasons you declined the request to lead APC governorship Campaign Council’s Media. Please for your sanity, don’t let anybody talked you into doing what you cannot defend with facts.
The dualisation of Benin-Auchi Expressway is still there, please tell your candidate and the federal government to face it.
