ESAN CENTRAL LOCAL GOVT BOSS, HON. PAUL ONOSEDEBA IYOHA FLAGS-OFF NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM.

In its bid to rid the local government of crippling poliomyelitis infection and secure a bright future for Nigerian Children, the Executive Chairman, Esan Central Local Government Area, Hon. Paul Onosedeba Iyoha on Friday 15th September 2023, flagged off the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) at Eguare Primary School, Irrua.
Addressing the people present at the occasion, Hon. Paul Onosedeba Iyoha stressed the importance of immunization, saying Immunization is a key strategy in reducing infant mortality and improving child survival rate globally. He urged them to reach all children up to 5 years of age as the exercise will last four (4) days in all the communities in Esan Central LGA.
The Council Boss said that his administration is committed to strengthening immunization activities as it will continue to render assistance and logistics support to carry out every health activities in the local government.
He called on mothers and caregivers to make their children available for immunization during the exercise as well as take them to the various healthcare centers for regular immunization. He pointed out that polio virus can easily be prevented by giving Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).
The Local Government director of primary health, Dr. Austin Okosun stated that the programme represents another opportunity to rescue children from child mortality. He further stated that the objective could only be achieved by making sure that every child with the age bracket receives two drops of oral polio vaccine during the exercise. He commend the council Boss for his support.
Earlier, the Esan Central Local Government health educator, Mrs. Patient Uwadiale, reminded the parents that the immunization is very important and also harmless to the children. She encourage all parents to bring out their children from age zero to five for immunization.
