Eid El Kabir: Edo Deputy Speaker Urges Muslim Faithfuls To Emulate Prophet Ibrahim
The Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.)Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko Esq has congratulated Muslims all across the country, particularly faithfuls in Edo State and Esan North East constituency II as they celebrate Eid El Kabir.
In a special greetings sent out on Wednesday, the lawmaker admonished Muslims to offer prayers for the country and Edo State.
According to her, Eid-el-Kabir is a time of spiritual reflection and self-improvement. She urged faithfuls to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim, who, in obedience to God’s directive, was ready to sacrifice his only son. As a people, we must imbibe the culture of sacrifice; to think of the common Good rather than individualism.
She admonished the Muslim Ummah to reflect on the significance of the celebration, which she said bordered on encouraging piety, sacrifice and love, noting that without these, no state or society could advance.
“The significance of the season should be beyond the festivities. The real essence is to encourage piety, total commitment to God, self-discipline and sacrifice, for our common good” she said.
