Egun community comes alive, as Osayande commissions new market in area
…elders, women and youths hails initiative, says Asue-Ogie race, a done deal in Egun
The good people of Egun Community in Ward 8 of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, have hailed the developmental strides of the Ikpoba-Okha local government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande.
Egun commended Osayande for bringing life to their Community via the construction of a new community market in their locality, noting that the Community is further resolute to support Osayande, Asue-Ogie and the PDP, particularly as the Edo2024 gubernatorial election draws nigh.
The commitment to continue to support the Osayande-led administration was made by Egun people at the commisioning of a 2-Unit-24-Open-Stalls community market facility on Tuesday in the community.
The community market facility is a campaign promise made by the Ikpoba-Okha Council Chairman, when he visited Egun during the local government election campaign last year; the facility, furthermore, aims to develop the trading capacity of Egun women, majority of whom are farmers who now have a ready market to display their wares for public consumption.
Representing the Council Chairman at the commissioning on Tuesday, Ikpoba-Okha local government Vice Chairman, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, charged Egun to see the facility as a personal one and protect it with all their might.
The Council’s Vice Chairman who spoke in Benin dialect, noted, “the Council Chairman decided to start with this initiative, when we visited Egun during the campaigns last year, you received us warmly, we asked what you needed, and you said you needed a market, today, by the grace of God, we are commisioning the Egun community market.”
Speaking further, “the Council Chairman has asked that you take this newly-commisioned Egun community market as your own, and protect it with all your might to fulfill its purpose”, Idehen noted.
The Egun people who expressed happiness over the development, vowed to protect the facility, they noted that this will be the first time the community will have such initiative; they hailed Osayande, with an assurance to continue to support his administration’s policies and programmes.
Elders, women and youths, all spoke in one voice, noting that the community will ensure the market serves its full purpose, as the market stalls will be judiciously allocated to benefit the needy.
“We are very happy and extremely grateful to the Council Chairman for his good works; when we requested for a market, we did not know that it will be this fast; it came to us as a surprise when we got news that the market was ready for commissioning; we are indeed very grateful”, a senior member of community noted.
Senior indigenes, women and youths of Egun trooped out in large number, taking turns to speak in appreciation of the Ikpoba-Okha local government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande; they have also been asked by the Chairman to prepare a list of women beneficiaries for his market money programme as they took over the facility on Tuesday.
Leader of the Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban was present at the Tuesday market commissioning, alongside the Councilor, Ward 10, Hon. Felix Ohen.
Head of Local Government Administration, Kessington Osifo, Director of Administrative and General Services, Comrade Blessing Uhunmwagho, and a host of others were also present on Tuesday.
Members of the community, who were in obvious joy, commended the Ikpoba-Okha local government Chairman, further declaring overwhelming support for the PDP, Osayande-led administration and by extension the Asue-Ogie movement, which they declared a done deal in their Community.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Chairman’s Press Secretary, Eseosa Ewere, was in Iyanomo market in Ward 9, to inspect the ongoing toilet and borehole facilities in the market; recall that the Iyanomo community market was recently built and commissioned by the Ikpoba-Okha local government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, few months into getting to office.
