The Chairman of Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Damian Lawani has inaugurated four committees to assist in the smooth running of the commission.
Lawani said membership of the Committee is not permanent as it will be regularly reshuffled to enable members to gain experience across board.
The chairman noted that the Committees will also help inject sanity in the operations of the 18 local government councils for effective service delivery and for the realization of the 5-point agenda of the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration.
Lawani charged members of the committee to see the assignment as their contributions to the advancement of the State.
The committees include Disciplinary Committee chaired by Chief Emmanuel Iyase, Committee on Conversion, study leave with or without pay chaired by Benjamin John and Committee on Complaints and Petitions chaired by Francis Akhigbe.
The chairman said the first move of the commission is to reposition the councils for optimal results.
“We came with a vision and ready to hit the ground running and the various committees need to be on ground for the smooth running of councils.
“Upon our inauguration, we did promise that we would give the governor accurate and original number of the various staff of the 18 local governments.
“Getting the numbers is very key as it will help check corruption, free resources, accountability, proper planning, robust engagement with the staff and will also help when the government wants to embark on welfare issues”, he stated.
