Edo State Govt. Announces Increment In Salary Of Sweepers
The Edo State government has announced an upward review of the salary of sweepers in Edo State.
Gov. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki who was represented by the Edo State commissioner for environment and sustainability, Hon. Joshua Omokhodion made this known to the sweepers during a meeting in Benin City.
The commissioner urged them to see the increment as a motivating factor and ensure they key into the Edo State government Operation Clean Up Edo State for a cleaner Edo State.
He also urged the sweepers to get registered in the ongoing health insurance scheme by the Edo State government.
The general manager, Edo State Waste Management Board, Rita Idekhai, commended the governor for the gesture and explained the rationale behind the increment saying it will help the worker boost their businesses and other needs.
Some of the affected sweepers who spoke to newsmen, thanked the governor for the increment saying it was very timely and promised to double their efforts in ensuring a cleaner Edo State.
