It was another testament to effective delivery yesterday as Edo State was ranked the first digital governance state in Nigeria and a model for other States in the new electricity regime on privatization program at the Sub-National Electricity meeting held in Abuja.
The Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Hon. Enaholo Ojeifoh who ably represented the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki shared the success story of the Edo State Government, noting the effectiveness of the ease of doing business policy in the power sector. While other States are still working on their power generation policies, Edo State has completed all four stages and now at the transmission & distribution level.
In his statement, Hon. Enaholo stated “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has set a pace for others to follow as it pertains to how States can take advantage of the unbundling of the power sector in making quality electricity available, accessible and affordable to her people. It is imperative to note that Edo State is the first to have completed the necessary stages of electricity generation and has gotten to the transmission and distribution stages.
Motivated by the bold steps taken so far by the Governor in this regard, investors are already trooping into the State to take advantage of new business opportunities and be part of our success story.”
