Edo Professionals in Abuja commend Ighodalo for staying focused on campaign issues despite unprovoked attacks
Edo Professionals in Abuja stated on Tuesday that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, is poised to win the upcoming Edo State governorship election due to his professionalism and focus on key issues, despite several unprovoked attacks on his character.
“The issues are clear,” said the Convener, Elder Aifuwa Osadolor. “The cost of living has skyrocketed, and people are getting poorer by the day. These are the real issues that matter to Edo people. As long as the PDP candidate remains focused on these and continues to refrain from name-calling, even as his opponents launch unprovoked personal attacks, he will continue to resonate with voters.”
Elder Osadolor continued, “We commend Asue Ighodalo for staying on track. He’s ahead of his opponents, who are mired in personal attacks and insults. Asue’s campaign has been about substantial issues that affect our daily lives.”
He added, “Asue has outlined in his manifesto that health is just as important as education. He has promised that under his governorship, health insurance will be mandatory, with either the government or an insurance scheme covering costs. He’s also committed to enhancing the insurance system to ensure that the most vulnerable are protected.
“One of his key policies is returning schools to private sector operators with the capacity and willingness to manage them effectively. We need standards for schools, and those in the private sector must meet these standards. Asue’s family has already adopted several primary schools in Edo State, and he’s encouraging members of the diaspora to join this effort to raise educational standards.”
Osadolor further stressed, “Asue is focused on developing a well-trained and well-paid teaching workforce capable of effectively educating our children. These are the critical issues that matter. He plans to improve school curricula and infrastructure, ensuring that students are equipped for the workforce. Additionally, he understands the need for vocational training to meet the demands of investors.”
Regarding security, Osadolor noted, “Asue has addressed our security challenges and proposed solutions. He’s committed to working with the existing security architecture, enhancing it with more funding and better training. Should the Constitution allow for State Police, Asue plans to fully equip and support it.”
“At the end of the day,” Osadolor said, “if Asue can continue to remain focused on these issues for the next 25 days, he should win this election by a landslide. He should win big. And if he stays professional, focusing on the campaign and reaching out to undecided voters – not just his base – that’s what will matter and not the name-calling and gutter language his opponents have degenerated into”.
