Edo police arrest Nigerian Navy officer, and Prison personnel for armed robbery
Two security personnel have been arrested by Nigerian police on charges of armed robbery.
The suspects, Ibrahim Adamu and Abdullahi Abdulwahab were apprehended at their hideout following a robbery in Delta State.
The Standard Gazette gathered that Abdullahi was employed by the Nigerian Correctional Service while his accomplice, Ibrahim, served in the Nigerian Navy.
According to the police, the two individuals have a history of committing car thefts and other serious crimes in the Edo and Delta States.
They, along with other accomplices, allegedly assaulted a man and stole his Mercedez Benz car in Sapele, Delta State.
On May 6, 2023, they were apprehended in Ekpoma, Edo State, after being intercepted by the police.
Abdullahi and Ibrahim were arrested, and the stolen vehicle was recovered.
The police also found military gear, such as uniforms, inside the car.
Ibrahim told the police, “I work in Delta state as a Navy Personnel . I usually cross snatched cars for people and they pay me. I normally pass through easily due to my military contact”.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the Police Public Relations Officer for Edo State, has confirmed the arrest and assured that the two suspects would face prosecution in court.
He stated that the police would persist in their pursuit of those who fled the crime scene. Furthermore, he declared that all suspects would face charges in court on May 10, 2023.
