…describes judgement as an affirmation of the dominance of the PDP in Edo Central

….charges Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun not to disappoint the electorates

The Edo State chapter of The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), has congratulated the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and now member representing Esan Central, Esan West, Igueben Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun KSC over judgement at the National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal delivered in his favour in Benin today. The Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the APC candidate, Deacon Patrick Idiake and affirmed Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun of the PDP as the winner of the elections.

In a statement in Benin after the judgement was delivered, an elated State Chairman of the PDP, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, hailed the tribunal members for standing upright and affirming the wish of the people of Esan Central, Esan West, Igueben Federal Constituency in their choice of who to represent them. He said that the judgement further reinforces the dominance of the PDP in Edo Central as demonstrated during the just concluded councils polls.

The chairman urged Hon. Marcus Onobun not to disappoint the electorates in his resolve to attract the much needed dividends of democracy to the Federal Constituency. He also appealed to the APC candidate, Deacon Patrick Idiake to see the judgement as the will of God and the people of the Federal Constituency by embracing Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun and joining to move Esan forward.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had earlier declared Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun of the PDP as the winner of the keenly contested elections in the Esan Central, Esan West, Igueben Federal Constituency held on April 6, 2023. Dissatisfied with the outcome, the APC candidate, Deacon Patrick Idiake had approached the Tribunal to challenge the results as declared by INEC.
