Edo LP Leaders Receive Hon. Sergius Ogun, Okay Guber Ambition
The leadership of the Labour Party in Edo state has given its nod to the gubernatorial aspiration of the immediate past member of the Federal House of Representatives and Balefire of Hope, Hon. (Barr. ) Deacon Sergius Ose Ogun.
The nod was given by the state chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi yesterday when Hon. Sergius Ogun stormed the state secretariat of the party to declare his intention to run for the office of the governor of Edo state in 2024.
The foremost governorship aspirant and his teeming supporters were ushered into the LP secretariat by jubilant party members amid cheers and excitement. In his address, Hon. Sergius Ogun said:
” I want to thank everybody for taking time off their busy schedules to receive me. I have come here today to express the intentions of my heart to the leadership of the party. Most of you might be aware that I have been a member of this party for so long. I had worked behind the scenes and later tackled issues frontally when it became necessary. I would be running for the governorship of this state on the platform of Labour Party.”
Going further, the oil and gas giant cum philanthropist took time to explain why he chose to pursue his gubernatorial ambition on the dais of Labour Party.
” There was a day News Anchor called me and asked me while all my bills where people oriented. I told them I am pro-people. I believe in people. If you look at the banner you will see the symbol of the Labour Party, what do will call it? Papa, mama, pikin. Labour Party is for the poor people, the ordinary Nigerians and commoners. They are the people will must liberate. They must be allowed to breathe. And Labour government in Osadebe Avenue will liberate them in this state” he explained.
Earlier in his welcome address, the state chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi who received the aspirant with open arms said: ” We are glad to inform you that Hon. Sergius Ogun has come to this humble office to declare his aspiration to join the queue among other aspirants that would run for the gubernatorial election under the platform of Labour Party in 2024. Accordingly, he has been so accepted as one of the aspirants”
In an apparent test of the acceptability of the aspirant, the state chairman asked if he should tell Hon. Sergius Ogun to take a bow and the mammoth crowd of party members chorused ” yes “.
