Edo leveraging technology to enhance productivity, improve service delivery, says Okungbowa

The Edo State Government has said it is strengthening its workforce through ongoing reforms in the civil and public service, leveraging technology to enhance productivity and deliver efficient and quality service to Edo people.

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., who spoke to journalists in Benin City, said the government adopted a technology-driven system, upskilling workers to meet the demands of the 21st-century workplace.

The Head of Service said the government has hugely invested in public service to ensure that workers are fully equipped to deliver on their assigned duties and contribute to the growth and development of the State.

According to him, “Through sustained investments in digital infrastructure and innovative solutions, the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration has in the past six years continued to harness the power of technology to streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance the efficiency of the state’s civil and public service.”

He noted that “the e-procurement system is one of the instruments put in place by the governor to ensure effective and efficient service delivery in the civil service.”

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, Okungbowa said, “By prioritizing the welfare and empowerment of our workforce, the state government is laying a solid foundation for a prosperous and progressive State. Our civil servants are the backbone of our service. They are the future and conscience of the system, and their dedication and professionalism play a pivotal role in driving the development of our great State.”

He further highlighted some of the achievements by the state government in furtherance of its commitment to the welfare of the state’s workers including the implementation of the N40,000 minimum wage, prompt and regular payment of salaries and pensions, training and retraining of workers, conducive workplace, the recent approval of the 13th-month salary for Edo workers, among others.
