EDO GUBER PRIMARY: DR ASUE IGHODALO WINS WITH LANDSLIDE VICTORY AS HE POLLED 577 TO EMERGE PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDTATE

Dr Asue Ighodalo has emerged as the flag bearer of the peoples democratic party (PDP) after Polling 577 votes out of the 585 delegates from the 192 wards across the 18 local government council areas of the state.The governorship primary which was held in a peaceful and coordinated atmosphere had leaders from the National working Committee and state working Committee present to witness the primary.
Ten aspirants purchased nomination form to contest for the sole candidacy. During the short speech delivered by each aspirants, Barrister Omosede Igbinedion step down and declared her support for the candidacy of Barrister Asue Ighodalo.Rt Honourable Ogbeide Ihama withdrew from the race. The contestant present at the primary election were Mr Anslem Ojezua ,Mr Osaro Onaiwu, Mr Felix Akhabue, Mr Arthur Esene,
Mr Martins Uhomoibhi, Hafia Hadizat Umoru and Mr Asue Ighodalo
A total delegates of 585 were elected at the congress for the primary election. Akoko Edo has 30 delegates, Egor 30,Esan central 28,Esan North East 32, Esan South East 31, Esan West 31,Etsako Central 31, Etsako East 30, Etsako West 32, Igueben 30, Ikpoba Okha 30, Oredo 37, Orhionmwon 37, Ovia North East 40,Owan South West 31, Owan East 34, Owan West 34, Uhunmwode 31 delegates respectively.
After voting ,sorting and counting, Barrister Asue is score 577, Hon Phillip Shaibu score 1, Barrister Anslem Ojezua score 0, Mr Osaro Onaiwu scored 0,Mr Arthur Esene scored 0,Mr Martins Uhomoihi scored 0,Mr Felix Akhabue scored 0 and Hafia Hadizat Umoru scored 0.
The chief returning officer of the election and chairman of the national delegate ,His excellency the executive governor of Zamfara state Mr Dauda Lawal and his Co chairman ,the executive governor of Delta state His excellency ,Governor Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori declared Barrister Asue Ighodalo as the winner of the Primary election.
In his acceptance speech, Barrister Asue Ighodalo thanked all the party leaders, delegates, and all national and state working Committee of the PDP for making today a reality. He appreciated everyone who worked tirelessly to ensure his emergence.
“I want to assure Edo people that I am ready to work with everyone ,the young and the old to ensure that we move Edo forward” he asserted.
He maintained further that he will be working with focus, determination and resilience with Edo people. “I will ensure that the best hands form part of my government. We will plan together to ensure that we attain victory at the end of the journey”
