EDO DEPUTY GOVERNOR’S APOLOGY; EDO PDP HAILS OBASEKI’S RESPONSE
The Edo State chapter of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has welcomed the response of the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, to the public apology tendered to him by his deputy, His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shuaibu. In a statement dated 28th September, 2023, personally signed by him, the governor noted that; “Although these unwarranted provocations caused me severe personal discomforts, as a person of faith, I am under obligation to accept this apology because as they say, ‘ to err is human, to forgive is divine ‘ ”
Addressing a cross section of some PDP leaders in his office in Benin today, the State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, hailed the Governor for choosing the part of peace. He described Governor Godwin Obaseki as a tolerant leader who has made a lot of personal sacrifices for peace and unity to reign in the PDP and the state in general.
” The magnanimity displayed by the Governor in accepting the public apology tendered by his deputy, His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shuaibu is worthy of praise. This shows that the Governor is one who respects leaders and personalities who have appealed to him to forgive.
” We look forward to seeing the unbreakable brotherly bond that has existed over the past seven years between the Governor and his deputy, that has seen them triumphed together in several political battles and also seen Edo state becoming the businesses and sports hub of the nation
” We are aware that this step taken by the Governor has completely destabilized agents of disunity, especially our political opponents who have been looking forward to unending crisis in our party.” Dr Aziegbemi noted.
It would be recalled that some PDP leaders in Edo Central Senatorial District and other well meaning Edolites, including religious leaders had appealed to His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, to accept the apology tendered by his deputy, His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, so that the duo can finish strong together.
