Ahead of the APC primaries to pick its Edo Central Senatorial District candidate for the 2025 senatorial district bye-election, for the replacement of Senator Monday Okpebholo who is now the Executive Governor of Edo State; three (3) aspirants across the party line have resolved to collapse their structures and endorse Hon. Dr. Joseph Ikpea for the 2025 Edo central senatorial District bye-election.
A reliable source who is privy to the resolution and pleaded anonymity, told IKPEA ADVOCACY MOVEMENT (I. A. M) that more leaders from the opposition parties have also agreed to throw their weight behind the aspiration of Hon. Ikpea for the actualization of his Senatorial ambition for meaningful development of Esan land.
According to the Source, the aspirants and Leaders from other political parties are prepared to declare their support for Hon. Ikpea’s aspiration against the backdrop that he a Pan-Esan man with wealth of experience with references to his tenure as a local government chairman; Chairman, Edo State Library Board; Board Member Representing Edo Central in the State Universal Basic Education Board, Member Edo State Executive Council where he served as Edo State Honorable Commissioner for Oil, Gas and Solid Minerals, and his progress in the private sector.
The source said, ”Considering the experience Hon. Dr. Joseph Ikpea has garnered overtime in both the public and private sectors, three aspirants and notable leaders across party lines have resolved to endorse him as the successor of Senator Monday Okpebholo come 2025. We are still reaching out to other aspirants and leaders across board, and our target is to make sure Hon. Ikpea is returned unopposed. By the time we are done with what we are currently doing now, there may be no need for primaries any longer. The possibility of a consensus candidate in the person of Dr Ikpea is most likely”.
