EDO CENTRAL PDP SPECIAL COMMITTEE CAUTIONS OSARO ONAIWU AGAINST FANNING THE EMBERS OF DISUNITY IN THE PARTY
The Edo Central PDP Special Committee has cautioned a former Durector-General of the PDP Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu against interfering in the domestic affairs of the party. The Committee condemned that hatchet man’s job Osaro has undertaken in the coming governorship election in Edo State.
The Committee was reacting to an online publication where Osaro Onaiwu was quoted calling out the statements made during the tour of the Special Committee in Edo Central by the State Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi as ethnically biased and divisive. Osaro was quoted as threatening to demand for the resignation of the State chairman .
In a statement released on line and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Amb. Tony Okonigene ANIVS, The Special Committee noted; ” Our attention has been drawn to an unfortunate statement online credited to the former Director- General of the PDP Governors Forum, Earl Osaro where he tried to whittle down the person of our State chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi . He accused the chairman of using the name of the Governor to promote ethnic politics during the tour of the Edo Central PDP Special Committee.
“We are surprised that Osaro Onaiwu has come out of his self imposed political purgatory. The last we heard of him politically was in 2016 when he took up the governorship ticket of The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), We are yet to be informed that he is back to the PDP.
“Be that as it may, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi is a proud son of Esanland and an apostle of the provisions of the PDP constitution. He is a man who practices what he preaches. He stands on the principles of equity, justice and fairness . The PDP makes provision for zoning and that is what he stands for.
“The likes of Osaro Onaiwu will not be abreast with the popular yarnings amongst the people of Edo State. The call for an Edo Governor of Esan extraction is a Movement sweeping across the State and being embraced by all well meaning Edolites who believe in equity, justice and fairness. Since he has not been in touch with his people, one can excuse the ignorance of Osaro Onaiwu to this fact.
“The bragging to call for the resignation of the State Chairman is laughable considering the fact that it is coming from someone who has not officially come back to the party after abandoning the ship to pick the governorship ticket of another party. There is the need to confirm from the ward chairman if he is back to the PDP. It is after the verification that we can give a more comprehensive reply. We advise the likes of Osaro Onaiwu who have been fueling the crisis in the Edo State PDP to take a rest. The PDP in Edo State is on a course of reconciliation and consolidation.
” In the coming days, we expect sponsored attacks from political non entities and proxies on our leaders who believe in equity, justice and fairness. They will intensify the calls for the State chairman to resign so that they can have one of their own to conduct the congresses and primary. They will bring up ethnic sentiments and try to put a wedge between Edo North and Edo South against their brothers and sisters in Edo Central. At the end, they will fail because God Almighty is in this Movement. They will fail because the good people of Edo State have decided to go Central to choose their next Governor.
“The cordial relationship between the State Governor and the State Chairman is the target of the hatchet man, Osaro Onaiwu, who normally becomes politically active after every four years. Well, let him and his sponsors be told that no amount of blackmail will distort the mutual respect they both share. The PDP train has taken off and the destination is to produce the next Governor of Edo State from Edo Central Senatorial District.”
