Edo 2024(Video): Moment of tears hits APC as hundreds of her members abandoned the party for the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Esan West
…Hon. Collins Aigbogun intensified efforts towards emptying opposition parties in the local government.
As the political relay in Edo state takes a new dimension and political pretenders obviously being separated from contenders, opposition party members in the state are taking bold steps realigning with the political party that has the best governorship candidates i.e the Peoples’ Democratic Party, for the best interest of Edo people.
It was a moment filled with tears in APC today as PDP leaders in Esan West joyfully received hundreds of APC members across the various wards in the local government who have made up their minds to flee the wicked party for the general interest of Edo people.
Among the leaders who welcomed the defectors to the Peoples’ Democratic Party at the LGA PDP secretariat were, the Council Chairman, Hon. Collins Aigbogun, High Chief Francis Ulinfun, Rt. Hon. Chief Joe Edionwele, Hon. Chief Stella Okoro, Barr. Idiakheua, Hon. Chief Irheobhude (Stumpy) Rev. Obhakhan etc.
Receiving the defectors, the party leaders commended their courage to quit the All Progressive Congress (APC) to join efforts with the Peoples Democratic Party in transforming the Local Government and the state in general.
The defectors who were filled with a deep relief, said their decision to join the Peoples’ Democratic Party is borne out of conviction that the Peoples’ Democratic Party is the only Party with people’s oriented policies as their former party APC is a party associated with hardship and anti-people’s policies. In their words, “We have endured for so long to see if there would be positive change but to no avail. We have discovered that staying in the party further would make us look like enemies of Edo people in particular and Nigerians in general because of the untold hardship the APC administration has brought upon Nigerians”.
The defectors also drummed supports for the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr. Asue’s Ighodalo as they described him as the best candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state. They also faulted their former party for projecting governorship candidates without direction and purpose.
The Council Boss who was so impressed with the atmosphere of defection said, the governorship race is more of a concluded one as the baton has since be passed on to an obvious winner, Dr. Asue Ighodalo whose political strength, stability, doggedness, tolerance and pace is second to none. The trophy is in sight and the finish line is now visible as PDP race to victory.
PDP, we always win.
