By Jackson Odion
The camp of the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Elections scheduled for September 2024, Senator Monday Okpebholo has been hit by a huge wave of defections in his Local Government Area, Esan Central LGA as hundreds of APC members have declared for the ruling PDP in the state.
The defectors which include several members from Monday Okpebholo’s ward, Uwessan Ward II cited his poor performance as their reason for leaving the APC.
They alleged that the APC candidate, who is also a serving Senator, had done nothing to ameliorate the hardship faced by the people in Uwessan his village which lacks access roads but built his personal house in Irrua due to the bad roads in his village.
The defectors praised Governor Obaseki for the work done on the road from Uromi to Uwessan. They said that this is the same road the APC candidate now uses to come to his village.
They also alleged that his representation has been poor with absolutely nothing to show for it.
Monday Okpebholo has been accused of diverting about N650 Million Naira earmarked for Constituency projects in Edo Central Senatorial district with nothing to show for it.
Some of the defectors who spoke expressed the view that he should forget about his inordinate Governorship ambition and focus on delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents as a Senator.
